Having worked for various record companies, I don't wonder at their desire to
enforce their rights against people selling records which are marked "For
promotional use only" (remember, artists have absolutely no chance of being
compensated for the sale of those records, at ANY price.) In theory, such
promotional copies are on loan (i.e. a record company could ask djs to return
them) although we know that never happens...
I am confident that your colleague feels he's been providing a service, and I
am sure he has, but I don't think protest letters to E-Bay will make a bit of
difference on this particular issue.
