Bona fide! to present Broken Beat Pioneers
Bugz in the Attic featuring Afronaught and Daz-I-Kue
Bona fide! is proud to present the Northwest debut of the undisputed heavy-
weights of broken beat and future jazz, Bugz in the Attic, on Friday
September 27th, 2002, at Nation. Representing this powerhouse of production
talent will be Apollo/R&S recording artist Afronaught and producer/engineer
Daz-I-Kue. These Bugz in the Attic members will be bringing their unique
sound and vibe direct from their acclaimed London residency Co-Op to Seattle
for their first U.S. appearance since the 2002 Winter Music Conference in
Miami, FL.
Bugz in the Attic are a crew of producers, DJs and performers who are at the
forefront of the latest electronic music scene to explode across London and
Europe. Their records have been caned by such DJ luminaries as Jazzanova,
Kruder & Dorfmeister, King Britt, Fauna Flash, Rainier Truby, and Radio1ıs
ultimate tastemaker Gilles Peterson. They have remixed and produced such
premier dance acts as Masters at Work, Kyoto Jazz Massive, 4 Hero, Naked
Music, Us3, and are rising on many DJ charts with their latest
woofer-rattling remix of Zero 7ıs "Distractions". Afronaught (aka Orin
Walters) has had his own success as well. His stunning single "Transcend Me"
is considered the first true future jazz anthem and has appeared on the
latest release from the best-selling DJ-Kicks series compiled by the Truby
Trio.
Born in the clubs of West London, Broken Beat/Future jazz is an amalgam of
house, two-step, jungle, breakbeat and jazz all the while giving props to
the masters of funk Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Roy Ayers. Afronaught,
Daz-I-Kue and the rest of the Bugz (Kaidi Tathem, Seiji, Mark Force, Mark de
Clive-Lowe and Nathan Haines) have created a unique, urban, electronic funk
that demands a concentrated listen and gets the dancefloor rockinı.
So if youıre the type that loves to be on the cutting edge of new dance
music or if you just want to boogie, get off the couch, grab your dancing
shoes and get down to Nation on September 27th. Afronaught and Daz-I-Kue
promise a special night of fresh and futuristic funk and a challenging romp
through jazz, soul and house.
Bona fide! happens every Friday and is the only night in town dedicated to
both creating that party-that-rocks-the-party vibe and exposing the Seattle
massive to new dance music. Tickets for Bugz in the Attic are $8 at the
door. Bona Fide! resident DJ J-Justice will open the night. Nation is
located at 1921 5th Ave in downtown Seattle. This is a 21+ event.
