i just spent most of the day in halcyon yesterday (and the night before).
great place. i wished i had stopped in there before i went to all the other
record shops in nyc. very little attitude which i liked and the only store
with a stocked section labeled "broken beat."
they have very cool dj's spinning there and people creating music off their
labtops live and whatnot. the owners are friendly as well. i'm sure they'd
order/stock on people's requests. the only setback: one of their rules is
you can't write notes while you're in the music section!
myrna
my second favorite: mondo kim's
dance tracks had some decent stuff too although i'm glad i am knowledgeable
about music and can bounce back the attitude...
