If you want the original jazz dance, that is, the original pressings of LPs
with jazz dance tracks, prepare yourself for spending significant amounts of
money. The stuff is rare, sought after and high priced. Still. there are
definitely a lot of classics that aren't terribly expensive; Jimmy Smith's
anthem 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf' can be found for dollars and
Quartette Tres Bien's 'Boss Tres Bien' usually goes for around 20 bucks on
the Bay. But start getting into the Private/Small Label stuff which UFO
collect and play and you're facing hundreds of dollars a record. So your
best bet is the compilations and Dustygroove has many to choose from. Check
out the Mojo series and Ubiquity reissues for starters.

would love to see your chart of swinging jazz dance. btw, I'm pretty sure
the version of 'Ain't Got That Swing' I heard at Blue was an older version.
Do you know who sang the famous one from back in the day? I'll definitely
try to scope out the Gabin and the others too. Hmmm, I'll have to get out my
old Red Snapper. Didn't know they swung that much. I remember their live
show being pretty tight and bass heavy. I'm kinda looking for older
swinging jazz dance numbers though. It's the fact that at Blue, I witnessed
a set of seemingly older songs that swung harder than anything new that got
    me really hyped.
    thx,
    ad ease
