As a few of you may recall, Shelley Nicole's blaKbüshe was one of the artists who appeared at
the show we were involved in promoting at BB King's last summer in NYC.

At that time, a few of you might recall me saying the following about this artist...
    ----------------------
Obviously I have seen this band perform live before.
I think that they are off the hook
Best description I can come up with for "Shelley Nicole's blaKbushe" that yall could relate
to is that they sound something like a combination of Living Colour and LaBelle/Betty Davis.

Now I don't want yall to think that Shelley is just a "pretty face with a guitar" either.
She was also one of the co-promoters of the show that we did at BB King's in NYC a few weeks
ago and at that show, I also had the distict pleasure of introducing her onstage along with
    Darrell McNeill.

BOB D: "I have dealt with blaKbushe for most of my adult life, yet I have never heard what
    blaKbushe sounds like before..."
DARRELL MCNEILL: "Bob, stop being nasty and just introduce the band..."
    ----------------------

Well Shelley is back this year and is about to release her debut CD, which hopefully we will
be giving you a taste of soon on Soul-Patrol.Net radio.
Anyhow, here is the scoop on the upcoming event...

    Thursday Residency: April 17th, 24th & May 1st

    Tribeca Rock Club (www.tribecarockclub.com)

    16 Warren Street, NYC

    (between Church St. & Broadway)

    212-766-1070

So many artists today 'claim' to be progressive but Shelley Nicole and her band,
blaKbüshe (www.blakbushe.com) are the living, breathing, actual embodiment!!! She's equal
parts vocalist, bassist, actress, poet AND promoter. Picture Dianne Reeves, Grace Jones,
Betty Davis (Miles Davis' rock 'n' soul wife) and Labelle; updated spiritual, conscious, and
with a sharp edge. The blaKbüshe sound is best described by Shelley as "SOLaRoc", combining
elements of rock, funk, soul and beyond."

To celebrate the much anticipated release of "she who bleeds.", the bands independent debut
CD, on Shelley's Red Butterfly Music label; blaKbüshe will perform three (3) Thursdays weekly
at the Tribeca Rock Club in downtown Manhattan. Each week she will also have different
groups perform as her opening act(s). The series is wildly titled "push, push in the büshe!"

April 17th kicks off the excitement with the folk-soul interpretations of Kismet Lyles and
serves as the official CD release show/celebration. April 24th starts early at 7pm with
hip-hop foremother/actress/lecturer Camille Yarbrough (Fat Boy Slim sampled her seminal song
"Take Yo' Praise" to international acclaim), spoken word artists Second2Last and band Radical
Thought Resistance (featuring Star Search finalist Freedom Bremner). Then in conclusion, on
May 1st, the dynamic vocal artistry of Sol and Philadelphia natives Synai will bless the
stage. On April 17th blaKbüshe will perform promptly at 9pm. On April 24th and May 1st they
will begin at 10pm. Doors open at 7:30pm for all shows with the exception of April 24th at
6:30pm. Admission is $12.00 and tickets are available in advance through the club's web site
(www.tribecarockclub.com), at the club and www.funkshunalentertainment.com.

Shelley Nicole was born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts where she began singing and
playing piano at the age of five. This talented singer/songwriter/producer now calls
Brooklyn, New York home. Since her arrival on the area music scene, she has performed in NYC
at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, S.O.B. 's., The Tea Party, the Cutting Room and Café Bloom
in Washington, DC to name but a few venues. Of special note, Shelley Nicole has been an
opening act for Erykah Badu at the Tea Party, recorded with KRS-ONE and served as a
background vocalist for former Motown recording artist Grenique. Before putting her band
together Shelley released, "Being Me," on Imani/King Street Records. The song charted in
London and received critical acclaim in New York and Europe's dance music scene. As an
actress, she held a role in the off-Broadway production of "Hairstory" written by Tish
Benson. In addition, the current poetry-spoken word scene is more than aware of her biting
political-social lyrical wizardry. Finally, her savvy in promotion with the Tea Party and
various NYC entrepreneurs keep her in demand also as a consultant to the emerging
    underground.
