Hi everyone, here is a quick April update.

MGA will not be doing any gigs in April... Happy Easter!

Our lead singer, Kelli, will be stepping out w. her own thing.... a lot of
her own material and a smoking hot band, including some MGA members. Her
first hit will be at "My Sista's House," which is promoted by soul
    impressario Lady Copper.

You can hear an interview with Lady Copper archived at KCRW's "Chocolate
City" (along with many of the top artists in the game today, including
Questlove, Billy Cobham, Les Nubians, Bugz In The Attic, Madlib, and
    more...)

    More details soon come!

Also in May and June, MGA will be back with a new, all (or mostly)
instrumental set. Keep your eyes peeled for that. Unfortunately, our great
Herman "It's Not Unusual" Matthews had to get a real job (That's what
marriage 'll do to ya....) Oh he'll still be doing some drumming on the
side, at little out of the way spots like Wembley, Madison Square Garden,
and the like... Not as exciting as MGA @ Fais Do Do, but, what can ya say,
    times are tough for drummers!

And it ain't no thang, 'cuz Stevo is back off the road through the spring
and summer, so we are all ready to get busy again! We've also got a great
regular bass player now, Dig Lewis, who played great at the Temple Bar a few
weeks back and brings that funky jazzy thing. And of course Louis T., who
stole the show last night w. the unbelievable Gerald Wilson Orchestra,
Stewart Killen (who you may remember formed a band w. Masa called "Skin"...
check out a track on "The Funky Precedent, Vol. 1. Stewart now plays in
Orgone.... which just backed up Lena at her recent showcases, which resulted
in her getting a new record deal!)

And of course, we've got DJ Theory of the Open Minds on the scene, flashing
his new "bling bling" G4 titanium laptop .

MORE NEWS: Which honorary lifetime MGA member is now singing in a band with
which famous Hollywood actress / wife / singer? Heheh, top secret info, but
    you saw Independence Day, right?

DEMO: Believe it or not, the demo is nearing completion and is slated to be
mixed and mastered soon. Thanks especially to J. Scott Fugate, "The Jazz
Evangelist" broadcasting from WBCX 89.1 FM from Georgia for offering to put
    our tracks on the air!

Musicians on the project include Oscar Brashear, Sekou Bunch, Louis Taylor,
Chris Razze, Stevo Theard, Joe Swafford, Dig Lewis, Hodges James and Smith,
Stewart Killen, Ann King and then some!!!

TONIGHT!!! SPECIAL EVENT!!! If you've been reading these updates you know
that "The Rebirth" is, in our opinion, the hottest thing going, right there
    w. Star 69! There track "This Journey In" has been pimped by none other than
the legendary Gilles Peterson on his Worldwide show on the BBC. Well, the
mastermind behind "The Rebirth" is Carlos "Loslito" Guaico, keyboardist and
producer extraordinaire. Well, he's also the impressario of some hot club
nights, including "The Rootdown" on Thursdays and "More" on Friday's both at
    Gabah.

His other night, Tuesdays at Boardners, is Bounce Rock & Skate and tonight
is their second anniversary! This promises to be a great time with great
dj's and a live art installation! Come on and check it out @ 1652 N.
Cherokee, on the corner of Hollywood and Cherokee!

    That's IT!!!
