STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)
Hello all
After her magnificent tune "Moderation" rode so high in the Stylin Best of
2001, it was great to finally have the opportunity to speak with Beady
Belle. Her second album "CEWBEAGAPPIC" is just out or nearly out on Jazzland
Records (through Universal in Australia). Again it is a collaboration with
Marius Reksjø, Norway's king of the basslines (check also his work with
Bobby Hughes Combination and Bugge Wesseltoft). Again it is full of great
songs and lyrics that get further under your skin with each listen. To
complete the historical perspective, Beady was also good enough to send me
some of her earlier works with Metropolitan (jazz standards) and Folk og
Røvere (Portishead-style "trip hop"). Special thanks to Beate, Andy and Sten
for hooking this up!

Still haven't confirmed my guests for this week. We may have an in-studio
appearance from New Zealand dub-soul merchants Fat Freddy's Drop, whose
international profile is on the rise after Jazzanova's Sonar Kollektiv
signed "Midnight Marauders" by crewmembers Fitchie & Joe Dukie. Otherwise
we'll have a fantastic mix from Austria's Tom Wieland, known for his
involvement in DJ and production outfits Les Gammas, Panoptikum and
Difusora.
until then
