Hello, folks.
I am new to this list. I am looking forward to learning more about all of
you and acid jazz. I am a Chicago area professional musician and I have
been becoming increasingly interested in acid jazz. I think it was Gil
Evans who said that each new innovation in jazz has paralleled the current
popular dance styles. Today, I think one might interpret dance styles as
the current trend in pop/rock music. Hence my curiosity in this style.
In the Chicago area we have only one station that actually programs acid
jazz, and then only late on Saturday nights. I love to listen to it when I
am on the way home from gigs. Most of the other stuff on the radio seems
pretty banal by comparison, but we have a rather weak programming market for
a city so big.
How about all of you? Is acid jazz getting its fair share of air play?
I look forward to seeing your posts. I sincerely hope I fit in.
Peace.
