other highlights that need mentioning : Patrick Pulsinger, who started his
set with Killing Joke, Miss Dinky playing some refreshing electro,
Puppetmastez for crazy beats and lots of good fun, Vincent Lemieux for a
very dubby end to the day festival and off course the Matthew Herbert Big
Band show. I've never seen a packed house go absolutely nuts on big band
music. great performance.
next time I'll definitely skip the night program. While I was getting lost
in immense halls in the outskirts of Barcelona people like Zero DB and
Dublex Inc were playing in small clubs in the Ramblas.

Exactly, I was there with people who attended Sonar 2000, a set during which
GP apparently pulled off an amazing performance.
The Darshan Jesrani set was, as one might guess, filled with "post-disco"
but yet "pre-house" music (sorry for the genre cliches...), the kind of
records which have recently been re-invented by Metro Area, Chicken Lips and
others.
Jaga Jazzist were a great contrast to the (as pointed out by Olaf)
overwhelming laptop electronica domination. Seemingly having as much fun as
the audience, they were switching instruments amongst band members between
songs, suddenly wearing masks, whilst performing a very tight and fast-paced
set.
Another highlight at Sonar was Jamie Lidell, a living proof that electronic
music in a live format doesn't have to be a guy staring at his laptop while
hoping that the computer isn't going to crash...
