    Greetings,

Indian summer is upon us in the Bay area and it's way too hot to
write this evening, but I'll mention a few items in brief before
    hitting the sack:

The Lithium Project: Many Worlds Theory - One of several dark and
sexy albums this week. Low-key grooves and floaty rhythms make this
a natural for late night listening.

Lamb: Between Darkness & Wonder - No sooner does a U.S. label get
around to releasing their second album, when a third pops up as an
import. Due out on 11/3, ...Darkness & Wonder continues Lamb's
elegant excursions into trip-hop and in my mind, is a much worthier
follow-up to their 2001 debut. Until the new Portishead album is
    finished, this will suffice.

Blu Mar Ten: The Six Million Names Of God - more ethereal business
that's as lovely as all get-out. All the tracks flow together
beautifully and their version of the Cars' "Drive" is an unexpected
    surprise.

Deyampert: Shapes & Colors - Rumor has it that this Cleveland native
hung around the Sonar Kollektiv office, trying to persuade Jazzanova
to sign him. His persistence paid off and the result is a fine,
soulful collection of tunes that should find favor with many,
especially the first single "Held Him First."

Al Green: I Can't Stop - And speaking of soul, it doesn't get any
better than this. Reunited with producer Willie Mitchell, Al has
forsaken his religious themes and made an album that sounds like 1974
all over again. Funky, gritty and full of fire, this is the album
we've been waiting for all these years. Ow!

Luke Vibert: YosepH - The man known as Wagon Christ drops a very
catchy batch of melodic electronica in our laps. It's FreakTime, baby!

Mauracher: 29 Degrees - Hubert Mauracher has been composing jingles
for radio, TV and film and has most recently completed his debut
album for Austria's Fabrique label. High energy without the mania and
full of jazzy underpinnings, Hubert is off to a fine start!

Jazzinho: Jazzinho - Fronted by singer-songwriter Guida de Palma,
Jazzinho serves up a sensuous mix of Afro-Brazilian rhythms and bossa
beats, sung primarily in Portugese. Remixes already out and
forthcoming, feature re-rubs by Phil Asher, Quant, Eddy & Dus, Da
    Lata, Sleepwalker and others. Spicy!

Anyhow, it must be cooling off a little, 'cause that's way more than
    I planned on imparting....

Next week my guest will be Naut Humon from Asphodel records. With
several SF shows coming up in the next few weeks and a number of new
signings to the label, we'll no doubt have plenty of cool stuff to
    play and discuss.

Until next week - ciao for now,
    David
