I don't know who argues that King Britt should've experimented more with new
sounds on his last disc, but it seems fairly clear that anyone who expresses
that opinion missed the point altogether. Worst part about it is that KB
makes his point painfully clear in his first spoken segment by trying 2 take
his listeners back 2 the time when Shaft was still in Africa and Grease was
the word. Then again, I guess it should be taken into account that
acid-jazz is quite a popular trend in music right now and is bound to
attract those who don't have a clue as to where its roots stem. But then
again, some folks who really dig on KB's sounds will probably go searching
for the music that first influenced artists like him and the Digable
Planets, and that's pretty cool. The rest'll keep listening till their
friends inform them of the next artist that they should be listening to in
order to remain a scenester.
