As someone else said, he's still around. His "More Encores" 10" record,
where he does songs based on (and created from) the music of various
artists, is an amazing example of how someone can use turntables in a
completely nontraditional way. Not at all beat oriented in the traditional
sense (for this list), it's obviously created by someone who's way into vinyl.
(My favorite track is "John Cage", where he took a few different Cage
records, sawed them into pieces (six or eight, I think), and then glued the
mixed-up pieces back together into one complete record. It sounds amazing
(but must completely demolish styli).)
