i assume this is a music store?
er> first track has a great interesting sample about "all places of
er> entertainment and areas where large groups may gather are closed until
er> further notice." interesting way to start off a mix of chilled vibes.
er> a somewhat erie sample that recalled memories of alfred hitchcock
er> films.. anyone got this and can possibly place the sample?
can't place the sample, but it seems to me if you live in a place where the
sun shines pretty rarely (this is the impression i've always got about
england--all that bit about "satanic mills" and whatnot) that you develop a
slightly different sense of humor, let us say, um, *dark*...
er> the Journeyman track stood out amoungst the rest for me. beautiful
nice, but i prefer the freakpower track--i have the non-mixed vinyl. severe
headnodda shit! people always want to know what track that is... love the
dr. king quote at the beginning...
er> the asian dub foundation track was the low point. seemed really out
er> of place in the mix, decent vibe but a rapping style that just didn't
er> fit the rest of the disc. maybe it was just me, but the guy's style
er> irriated me and i wasn't interested in what he had to say. (which was
er> basically nothing). track really broke the flow of the disc.
from the non-mixed perspective, i had beef w/the rap on this track, too
--wizack! the groove i liked, though...
er> but anyway.. for anyone who likes their ambient as well as aj, and
er> loves to have some grooviness going on in the background.. this mix is
er> well worth checking out..
on the vinyl tip, if you don't have much t-hop (dub-hop, whatever...) you
might want to pick this up. if you have a copy of "a zed..." or the fila
brazillia mix of "freedom" from *refried food 1&2* (for some reason on mine
it was called "i am a simple man") the mixes on here are the same. it was
nice to pick up the bandulu tune ("run, run, run"), and global comm's
"maiden
voyage" (not the herbie tune) as i didn't have them...
