FSUK3 - mixed by Bentley Rythm Ace
Already reviewed yesterday I just have to second that this mix is
amazing! at times very housey but also very jazzy, it's two CDs
that both are all over the place, well worth the Import price!
In the Buzzbag - Brooklyn Funk Essentials
This one took me a few listens to warm up to but now Im diggin it,
it's a good blend of funky jazz with I think a turkish band. For
those following the Commercialism thread there is a song called
"selling out" which gives the impression you won't be hearing any
work by them for Corps any time soon.
Their playing on Fri Nov 13 at Irving plaza with Qool Marv.
OK - Talvin Singh
I am loving this! TrAveller is a very airy Bladerunnerish tune
with lots of strings, Also dig the last Tune Vampire Vikram,
which is drum & bassy.
Kakusei - DJ Krush
Jury is still out on this.... First said Krush is a favorite,
but after one listen I feel that the beats on this are too heavy
in the mix and very homogeneous, I'm sure I'll get used to it but
I still like his more abstract work, which there is much on this
new album, just for me too far under the breaks...
High Noon - Arto Lindsey
GOOD GOOD GOOD.
Arto can be all over the place , great for fans over Samba, with
a good use of his more experimental tendencies.
If you like brazilian you'll like this.
Red, Hot, + Rhapsody - various
Another good release from Red Hot, with Gershwin being covered
by the likes of Morcheeba, SkylAb, Money Mark, etc
this is a chill kind of album, There is also a version with the
origonal artist, Sara Vaughn, Nin Simone, Miles, etc.
This is a good cause to suppurt as well IMHO.
that's all for now
