more MOLOKO

I was going to stay out of this, but couldn't resist.
I am a huge fan of their first album, "do you like my tight sweater?"
I t still finds its way to my CD rotation even now.
It is in no way similar to portishead or the like. It is very quirky and weird.
If you want to compare them to anyone, I'd compare them to Cibo Matto
and/or Jimi Tenor
who are as equally *ALL* over the place (understatement! but I think this
is a good thing)
as Moloko was on their first album. The key to this comparison is not the
overall sound these
groups create, but the humor, quirkiness, and weirdness.

Their second release, "I am not a doctor," was not as satisfying for me
because it was less
quirky, less humorous, and less all of the place than the first one.

I had the opportunity to see them live in New York at the Knitting Factory
a couple of years back
and the lead singer's vocals live were amazing and she was bopping all over
the stage without
losing key. She was very energetic.

While I'm comparing first and sophomore releases, I have the same problem
with Cibo Matto's.
I loved the first one because it was so wacked, but then I don't like the
new one so much because
it is more tame than the first one.

my two cents.
