It's a comp, but one you def. want to pick up. There's a
proto-broken-beat track by Shuggie Otis that must be heard to be
believed (& is, I would imagine, a "producer's cut" in the soul genre
which dates back nearly 30 years now.
Seems there's lots of funk auteurs (Sly, Prince anyway) who are
one-man studio fiends.
