haha, for real?? =) I used to be a breaks list
incendiary and broke the habit a couple years back
when everything got too hectic and negative. jungle
completely broke my heart when it lost its soul.
everything i love about west london is what i used to
love about jungle back in the early/mid 90s, that
unsquashable energy, sharpness, freshness, innovation,
the amalgamation of all those disparate influences,
and the 10,000 watt positivity. that nearly giddy
sense of fun and experimentation.
so no one on the breaks list gets it? I just don't
understand...i mean, i guess there's a lot of new
jacks (i say that somewhat toungue in cheek...) who
grew up on 2 step and techstep...but...i guess those
chaotic beats are ingrained in my understanding of the
entire form, and that's simply been the exception, not
the rule, for several years now. West london/future
jazz/shiki/whatever is exactly the same level of
adventure to me as that crazy old school shit, they
are so obviously cut from the same mental (i mean
MENTAL!) fabric, and people like Seiji and Hidden
Agenda are proof. I guess I take for granted the huge
effect it has on me. I don't understand how it can
*not* effect you that way. Maybe i'm a snob, but not
even, b/c the effect is completely pre-intellectual
and personal.
I guess we're lucky to be able to derive this kind of
joy and see this phenomenon in its brightest light.
Hopefully that continues for a long time. May shiki
shiki never grow jaded!!!
