Pro Tools and the PC. Not a good match. In fact, last I checked, you
couldn't even run Pro Tools 24 on a PC, (although I guess by now you
    probably can, right?)

    Pro Tools is an integrated hardware/software system, and its very expensive;
the full hype system goes for over $10k, I believe, and no matter how much
you know about your computer, you *got* to get a professional Pro Tooler to
    set it up for you.

Digidesign, the company that makes Pro Tools (owned by Avid, the
state-of-the art video editing system), does make a cheaper unit called the
"001" I believe, which will work on the PC. Last I checked, it retailed for
about 1K, so you can probably get one new for about $650 bucks somewhere
    online.

But, if you've already got a good DA - AD converter, (if not, there are alot
of pretty cheap 24 bit converters out there, Tango, Flying Cow, etc., ) and
a soundcard in your PC, you don't need Pro Tools, really, unless you're
running a commercial studio. You can use Logic for 10 years and still not
figure out everything it does, and they're coming out with updates every 4
or 5 months. Ditto Cubase. Heck, even Cakewalk is getting decent, although
if Elson thinks its ready to take over Logic, as he wrote in his infamous
Namm review, aw, hell, I'd like to hire a professional martial arts team to
give him an ass whipping, even if he is famous.
