i think the future of music consumption involves artists directly selling to
the public and bypassing major labels - this certainly won't eliminate piracy,
but it will put more money directly into the pockets of artists, who continue
to be ripped off by the music industry now more than ever - the whining of
the major labels is sickening, especially when you see lawsuit after lawsuit by
artists who have been ripped off by the millions - i have no sympathy for the
conglomerates and would gladly fork over my dollars directly to the artists
whose music i want to own -
that being said, this scenario rings true, as i see it happening among middle
school and high school kids - by the time they get to college, even the least
sophisticated young person knows how to bypass copyright protection like
walter payton moving through even the most potent defense -
