Great points, one and all. It seems that eveyone here is on the same level
concerning the medium (how it really isn't as important as the music). I
spin with CD's for 3 main reasons: 1. Most of the music I buy and spin is
not released on vinyl....EVER. 2. I do things with my CD decks that can't be
done with vinyl decks...period. 3. I can bring over a thousand discs to a
gig, easily. Try doing that with vinyl.
So, for me, at the moment, CD is the way to go. Final Scratch is a great
piece of gear, but I wouldn't have much use for it, because it still gives
you the limitations you face with a pair of normal turntables, i.e. no
instant reverse play, no pitch lock/tempo lock (my favorite feature of my CD
decks), difficult sampling capabilities. I know you can use FS with CD
decks, but that almost seems redundant.
In any case, to me the perfect setup would involve FS, a couple of
CDJ-1000's, and two Technics. That way you cover ALL the bases, and you
don't really have to deal with any limitations, gear-wise (well, except for
the six grand you have to drop on all that gear).
By the way, how does Traktor compare to FS?
