Almost strictly r&b but not the modernist kind this time. A couple of big albums out recently. First, The Internet is likely one of this year's best albums. I like this kind of quirky and quiet neo-soul with over-extracted scenes, 'about the peaks and pitfalls of love and sex' as Pitchfork writes. Highly recommended. Faze action are UK brothers Lee, with their blend of jazz, soul but mostly disco. A must for your Balearic travels. Dornik is another UK soul example, with hints of MJ in the polished studio sound. Jill Scott and Maysa, both with new albums out. I once got burned, reviewing Masya and one album sounding a bit (I thought) too grown up and got disappointed comments from Maysa herself... not a good day for a fan. Dego is out with a short but fine EP. I need to get back to the broken beat genre. Are there any bands left doing broken?
